Washington State Telemedicine Mandatory Training

Washington state providers (other than MD and DO) who are delivering patient care via telemedicine are subject to a new telemedicine training regulations as outlined in RCW 43.70.495. This law went into effect on January 1, 2021. The Washington State Hospital Association recently released additional information on this requirement at https://www.wsha.org/policy-advocacy/issues/telemedicine/washington-state-telemedicine-collaborative/telemedicine-training. This page offers information regarding the requirement including training options available and additional resources, as well as FAQ. We encourage integrative healthcare providers to review the FAQ on this site as it answers many of the questions that have arisen since the new regulation was announced.

There is now a free and publicly available telemedicine training that is open to all Washington state healthcare providers at https://nrtrc.catalog.instructure.com/courses/washington-state-healthcare-professional-telemedicine-training. This course is hosted by the Northwest Regional Telehealth Resource Center’s Canvas training program and meets the requirements of the regulation. Providers will need to set-up a Canvas account to access this course, if they do not already have one.
