Show How Chiropractic Physicians and CAM Clinicians Promote Healthy Lifestyles and Wellness (Press Release 2011-02-22) |
| Posted by The CHP Group on Feb 22 2011 |
February 22, 2011 - Beaverton, Oregon - The CHP Group is committed to accomplishing integration of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for the benefit of patients and the community. One part of this effort is supporting research that will help everyone understand the value that CAM providers bring to health care. The Integrated Chiropractic Outcomes Network (ICON) is a new Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) being developed by two chiropractic colleges. PBRN research projects provide a unique opportunity to do “real world” CAM research.
There is an opportunity right now for CAM clinicians – including chiropractors, acupuncturists, and naturopathic physicians – to be part of this research project that is focused on CAM providers’ use of health promotion and prevention services.
A collaboration between Texas and Logan Chiropractic Colleges has launched the Integrated Chiropractic Outcomes Research Network (ICON). For complete information on this exciting opportunity go to: ICON-A New Practice Based Research Network with a Focus on Wellness
There is no cost for doctors or patients to participate in this study. It will take only some time for you, your staff, and your patients. But, it should be time well spent and more than worth the investment!
This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Boards of the collaborating institutions. All participating doctors will receive a report of the study’s findings, and will be acknowledged in any resulting publications.
The first project is a simple cross-sectional study to get a “snapshot” of your practice. You will need to complete 3 forms for this:
- Participation Agreement – Each clinician will need to sign and return the Participation Agreement form in order to participate in ICON. Either scan the signature page and email it to michelle.anderson@logan.edu or fax it to Michelle Anderson at 636-207-2417.
- Practitioner Characteristics - Each clinician should complete the Practitioner Characteristics form.
- Practice Characteristics – Complete one (1) Practice Characteristics form per practice. (NOT per doctor, if you have more than 1 clinician in the practice).
These forms are available for download.

PDF forms:
Please e-mail or fax the completed forms by close of business February 25, 2011 to michelle.anderson@logan.edu or fax it to Michelle at 636-207-2417.
Then the researchers will send you the patient forms and a postage-paid return envelope. During data collection YOUR PATIENTS will complete one (1) form. Every patient who comes into your office the week of March 28, 2011 – April 2, 2011 should be asked by your staff to complete the form.
Prior to the start of the project, Michelle Anderson, the program coordinator, will be in touch with you and your staff to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact her at any time at 636-230-1946 or michelle.anderson@logan.edu.
