Integrative medicine stats on pain management for musculoskeletal pain

Woman receiving chiropractic careA 2012 study on low back and neck pain with 34,000 adults shows that more than half of US adults rely on integrative medicine to relieve this type of pain. Investigator, Tainya C. Clark, PhD from National Health Interview Survey writes that this type of information should better inform providers of the type of dialogue and priorities requested by patients and used by practitioner-based strategies. These strategies include but are not limited to: non-vitamin and non-mineral supplements, chiropractic, Alexander techniques and more. Providers are recommended to review the 2016 ‘National Pain Strategy’, produced by the Department of Health and Human Services which lays out better plans for addressing chronic pain in the United States.
